You will need a referral from your GP or treating doctor. Call the rooms or send an enquiry and we will arrange a time.
For referring doctors
Refer by Healthlink, Argus, fax or email. Direct access endoscopy for suitable patients, usually within three weeks, sooner if urgent. No gap for procedures.
Procedures
Gastroscopy
Examination of the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum.
Colonoscopy
Examination of the large bowel and ileum.
Capsule enteroscopy
Examination of the small bowel with a swallowed camera (Pillcam).
Liver fibrosis scan
Liver elastography (stiffness measurement) to assess scarring and fat.
James does not charge a gap for any endoscopic procedure.
Conditions I treat
Liver disorders
Abnormal liver tests, steatotic (fatty) liver, autoimmune liver diseases, liver cancers and cirrhosis. Liver elastography scans available.
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
Specialist management including advanced biologic therapies.
Disorders of gut-brain interaction
Irritable bowel syndrome, functional dyspepsia, cyclical vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea and bloating.
Coeliac disease
Diagnosis, workup and management of coeliac disease and non-coeliac gluten sensitivity.
Oesophageal disorders
Reflux, swallowing difficulties and eosinophilic oesophagitis.
Abdominal pain
Assessment and management, including therapy for anterior cutaneous nerve entrapment syndrome.
Bowel cancer screening
Colonoscopy and assessment of bowel cancer risk.
Endoscopy
Private gastroscopy, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy with timely access and follow-up, including direct access.
